Copy Export

Copy export

Export lets you share a read-only version of a screen. Recipients can copy and download the content from exported screen. This is great for when you want to:

  • Hand-off your copy to engineering for implementation
  • Download your copy to use offline
  • Give read-only access to your screen to people who aren’t members of your account

Exporting your screen

To export your screen click the ‘Export’ button. You’ll find the ‘Export’ button in the top right of Screen View (or Text View).

By default, the link to the export page is off. To turn it on, click the switch.

Once you’ve switched on export you can copy the link and share it with your teammates.

The export page is public, this means that anyone with the link will have read-only access to your screen. You can turn off the link to the export page at any time.

Statuses and the export page

Exporting a draft

It’s important to note that you can only export screens that have been published. If you try to export a screen that is a draft, then you’ll be asked whether you would like to publish the screen as well.

Switching back to draft

It’s also important to note that when a screen is changed from published to draft the export link will be turned off—Kopie will warn you when this happens.

Any recipients of the export link will get the following message if they try to access the export page while the link is off.

You can turn the link on again when re-publishing—this won’t change the link.

Using the export page

The export page is a read-only version of a screen. On the export page you can do the following:

  • Copy text to your clipboard
  • Download the screen’s copy, in either JSON or CSV formats
  • Retrieve a live link to the JSON data

Copy to clipboard

Click on any text layer to copy its content to your clipboard.

Download

To download all the copy from an exported screen click the ‘Download’ button.

Select the format you want and then click the ‘Download copy’ button.

JSON data

Access the JSON data for a screen’s copy by opening the download dropdown and clicking the JSON link icon.

The JSON data for a screen can be accessed for as long as the export page is active.
